Why does your hair feel so good after a salon visit?

You know the feeling. You’ve left the hairdresser, your scalp is feeling extra fresh, your hair feels light. Your waves, curls, straight strands are bouncing. Why does it feel that way? And why can’t we get the same result at home? Or are there things we can do to get these results? Let’s dive in!

Reason 1: Your scalp has been deeply cleaned.

The hair wash at the salon focuses on your scalp…for a longer time than you probably do at home. Not only that, but there is an almost definite double wash which some people tend to skip at home. The combination focusing the shampoo on your scalp, using the right amount of product, and the double cleanse (and massage) truly does wonders for your scalp.

This is one thing I really want to encourage you all to do at home. And yes, we do have the Shampoo Brush for this reason. A clean scalp is just *chef’s kiss*

Reason 2: The conditioner is being rinsed out fully

Your hair will be properly rinsed after applying conditioner to ensure there is no residual conditioner left. Wash off conditioners are formulated differently to leave-in conditioners. So, it is quite important that wash-off conditioners are properly…washed off.

Reason 3: Your dead ends are gone

The dead, split, dry, damaged ends of your hair take away the bounce that your hair could have. This is because damaged hair loses elasticity, so it remains limp and somewhat drags the rest of your hair with it. Chopping it off means you are left with only your healthier hair

Reason 4: Your hair was fully dried

Hairstylists will dry your hair in small sections and make sure it is completely dry. When your hair isn’t fully dry after heat styling it is prone to frizz

Aside from going to your hairdresser for a trim, all the other items are doable at home to get you closer to the airy, fresh feeling that you get from the salon
