Do you have a night-time hair routine?
A few days ago we asked our Instagram followers whether they have a night-time hair routine. The response was an overwhelming “nope”. Which is not surprising. But what is a night-time hair routine? Do you need one? Does it take long? What are the benefits? Are we taking this too far? We’ll answer all of that and more in this week’s article.
What is a night-time hair routine?
We’re familiar with a night-time skin care routine. Some of us have an elaborate one, some have very simple routines. But its universally understood that you should have some kind of night-time skin routine. Similarly, we would recommend a night-time hair routine.
Here’s what it involves and it’s easy as 1-2-3
|
What to do |
Why |
1 |
Apply a light amount of hair oil especially to your ends |
This helps protect your ends while you’re sleeping. Remember your ends are the oldest part of your hair. Taking care of them with a little bit of our Nourishing Hair Oil will help to prevent breakage and split ends. |
2 |
Tie your hair with a satin scrunchie |
There’s two parts to this. Firstly, we recommend a loose low ponytail and a high lose bun. You could also opt for a loose braid. The point is, it’s best to gently tie your hair while sleeping. Secondly, use a satin scrunchie when you tie your hair. It’s gentle, slippery and won’t tug at your hair while sleeping |
3 |
Sleep on a satin pillowcase |
This is not only good for your hair, but it’s also good for your skin. Cotton tends to be abrasive against your skin and hair. It’s why you wake up with frizz and sleep lines. Satin on the other hand is soft and slippery so your hair and skin glides against it. It is also non-absorbent, so your natural oils and any product you’ve applied stays on your skin and hair instead of being absorbed by your pillowcase |
BONUS! |
You could amp it up with a satin bonnet |
Personally I don't like sleeping with a bonnet. BUT, if that doesn’t bother you, a satin bonnet is a great option to protect your hair while sleeping |
So why should you have a night-time hair routine?
Well, why not? It’s simple enough and gives you big benefits. What’s great about it is that this applies to ALL hair types. Whether you have thick hair, thin hair, curly hair, coily hair, straight hair. You will get benefits from having a simple night-time hair routine
Are we taking this hair thing too far?
I don’t think so. If there are small things that we can add into our daily routine that can benefit us, then why not? If these small things will give you strong long-term benefits, then I’m here for it.
