You’re ready to start taking care of your hair

Well, you know we have you covered here. The online space can be especially jarring when you want to embark on a healthy hair journey. There’s just too much information out there and sometimes conflicting information. So, we are going to simplify it to the most basic things you need to do. Will this be applicable to all hair types? Yes. Will it be applicable to treated hair? Yes. Let’s get into it.

How can we share tips that can apply to all hair types?

Because hair essentially grows the same way for everyone, whether your hair is fine or thick, coily or straight. When we talk about basic hair care, it is the basic, most essential things that you need to ensure you’re taking care of your hair.

What is a healthy hair journey?

There are many meanings to this I suppose. But to us, a healthy hair journey is a lifestyle decision whereby you understand your hair needs and can personalize it to  hair needs.

It does not mean that you have to wear your hair natural. It doesn’t mean that you are not allowed to color your hair. It doesn’t mean that you are not allowed to heat style your hair. You can do all those things and still maintain a healthy hair routine.

So, what should you do?

There are three basic tips that you must do:

1. Massage your scalp

The benefits of massaging your scalp are immense. It is a proactive practice to prevent hair loss, and it can also be a reactive meaning you can massage your scalp to correct any hair loss that you are facing.

Massage your scalp with a high-quality scalp oil, like our Scalp Elixir, which contains anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant compounds that your scalp and hair follicles will love.

2. Keep your scalp clean

We recommend washing your hair at least once a week for two reasons. One, your scalp produces sebum which mixes with dust and dirt throughout your day and creates a compromising environment on your scalp over time. Leaving this on your scalp beyond a week is going to lead to itchy scalp, dryness and fungal infections. The same way that the rest of your body needs to be clean, so does your scalp.

The second reason is that your hair needs to be moisturized, and the best way to moisturize and hydrate your hair is when you wash your hair. Water is so beneficial to your hair and helps to prevent breakage caused by dryness.

3. Protect your ends

Once your hair leaves your scalp, it is dead. Think about it this way, if today you burnt your hair, that hair will never heal itself. This is because it has no access to blood supply so it has no healing capabilities. For this reason, it is important to be gentle to your hair and keep it moisturized.

After washing your hair, apply a leave-in conditioner and then apply a light hair oil. We recommend applying a small amount of hair oil every day to keep your midshaft to your ends nourished.
