5 healthy hair tips I wish I knew earlier

I’ve been on a healthy hair journey for quite some time now. Along the way I’ve learned some critical tips that I honestly wish I knew earlier. I’m going to share the five most valuable tips that can help you speed up your healthy hair journey because I know they made a huge difference for me. Lets get into it!

1. Formulated products work better than DIY products

When it comes to hair care, it's easy to fall into the DIY trap, thinking homemade concoctions are the best option. I was the DIY queen. I wanted to DIY everything from hair care to facial care to body care. But over the years I’ve learned that it is more important to find the right formulated product, because they will work faster and are safer.

Formulated hair products have been carefully crafted with specific ingredients to address various hair concerns. They undergo rigorous testing to ensure effectiveness and safety. Unlike DIY treatments, professional products have consistent formulations and pH levels, providing reliable results. They also contain preservatives to prevent bacterial growth, making them safer for long-term use.

I used to make my own scalp oil and I used it for yeeeears, seeing minimal impact. There was some improvement which made me happy, but when I started to test out the Scalp Elixir, I honestly was floored. The difference was incomparable. I got new hair growth at a much faster rate and the hair quality was noticeably better.

2. Washing your hair more often isn't damaging

Many people worry that frequent washing can strip their hair of its natural oils and cause damage. I also thought that if I wash my hair less often, that less hair would fall out. In reality, washing your hair regularly can be beneficial. It helps remove excess oil, sweat, and product buildup, promoting a healthy scalp environment.

However, it's essential to choose the right products and avoid harsh chemicals that can lead to dryness. Adjust your washing frequency based on your hair type and lifestyle.

3. You must protect your ends because they cannot repair themselves

The ends of your hair are the oldest and most vulnerable part of your hair shaft. Unlike the roots, which receive nourishment from your scalp, the ends don't repair themselves. To prevent split ends, dry ends, and damaged ends you need to protect your growth. And you do this by being gentle with your hair.

I guess this tip is a 3-part tip, but in order to be gentle with your hair you should apply a very light application of a hair oil like our Nourishing Hair Oil to your ends. Get trims when needed and use a heat protectant if you are heat styling.

4. Massaging your scalp is critical

Scalp massage is a simple yet powerful technique for promoting hair health. Massaging your scalp increases blood flow to the hair follicles, which can stimulate hair growth and improve the overall health of your scalp. It also helps distribute natural oils, preventing dryness and flakiness.

You can use your fingertips or a scalp massage tool and incorporate this practice into your hair care routine, either during shampooing or your scalp oiling days, or just take a break from work for a 5-minute massage break.

5. You shouldn't drown your scalp and hair in oil:

I always believed that if a product was good, then I should use lots of it to get more benefits. This is far from the truth. More product doesn’t mean more benefit.

In fact, using more oil will just make it harder for you to wash the oil off on your wash days, perhaps having you use more shampoo which will then dry out your hair further.

A well formulated scalp oil and hair oil needs a light application only. You will get the benefits of the products without the excessive heaviness.
