3 tips to keep your scalp in ultimate health

An itchy scalp, dry scalp, dandruff, redness, hair loss. These have become somewhat normalized issues, but there are ways to avoid them by following three simple tips.

Incorporating these tips into your weekly routine will yield wonderful results for your scalp and your hair. Because…a healthy scalp grows healthy hair. Let’s dive in

Tip 1: Moisturize your scalp with a good topical oil

You want a topical oil that combines hardworking carrier oils with terpenes. Terpenes are natural penetration enhancers, so they can penetrate your scalp and deliver the benefits of all the oils directly where needed.

Our Scalp Elixir contains two essential oils (thyme and rosemary) which are abundant in terpenes with anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, antioxidant and anti-fungal properties. We also added 9 other carrier oils which are high in fatty acids, conditioning compounds and antioxidant properties. These 11 oils combined benefit the surface of your scalp, and it penetrates your scalp to deliver these incredible compounds to your hair follicle too.

It is recommended that you do a scalp oiling treatment at least once a week.

Tip 2: Massage your scalp to encourage blood flow

The act of massaging your scalp alone can increase blood circulation. An increase in blood circulation has been linked to hair growth and reduction of hair thinning. Massaging your scalp after an application of a topical scalp oil yields incredible benefits.

Even brushing your hair helps to stimulate the scalp. Though I know this can’t apply to our curly/coily/wavy friends for fear of a hair poof, so in these cases you can incorporate a short 2–3-minute scalp massage. Check out our article on the benefits of massaging your scalp here

Tip 3: Keep your scalp clean

Your scalp is skin. We’ve discussed this in a previous article which you can read here. We cleanse our body every day, we cleanse our face every day. Your scalp is skin too and it requires to be cleansed. Aside from the sebum your scalp produces there are other external factors such as pollution, dust, and styling products. These all settle on your scalp mixed with your sebum to create a very unfavorable environment.

When your scalp isn’t happy, you’ll experience itchiness, dryness, scalp flaking which will result in weaker hair, can exacerbate hair loss and stunt your hair growth progress. This is why we recommend that you wash your hair at least once a week.

We strongly recommend adding a Shampoo Brush to your wash routine as well. Our Shampoo brush has 25 soft silicone bristles that gently, but thoroughly, clean your scalp.
