Do not make these mistakes if you are trying to correct your hair loss

Embarking on a journey to combat hair loss often involves a trial-and-error process. I've been there, made my fair share of mistakes, and learned valuable lessons along the way. In the spirit of openness and helping others on their hair care journey, let's delve into the five significant errors that set me back and the insights gained from each.

1. Prolonging Days Between Wash Days

The Mistake: I legitimately thought that washing my hair, would cause more hair to fall out. So somehow, I justified that if I washed my hair once a week, it would be better because I would reduce the amount of hair fall.

The reality: Weak hair will fall out irrespective of your wash day. Not only that but allowing too much time between washes leads to a buildup of sebum, dirt, and product residue on your scalp. Which exacerbates your hair loss.

The Lesson: Regular cleansing is the cornerstone of a healthy scalp. A clean scalp promotes optimal conditions for hair growth.

2. Using My Own DIY Scalp Oil

The Mistake: Experimenting with DIY scalp oils was my attempt at a natural remedy. I was an avid DIY-er and I thought I had a winner with my kitchen scalp oil.

The reality: I can tell you, with full confidence that a professionally formulated product is almost always the way to go. There are so many options out there for so many scalp or hair concerns, its more imrpotna tto find the product that works for you, vs. takng it upon yourself to DIY a solution. I used my DIY scalp oil for probably 3 years, an the progress was SLOW, almost negligible. But when I tested out the Scalp Elixir formulation, I saw results within 3 months, an the results have continued since.

The Lesson: Scalp oiling plays a pivotal role in correcting your hair loss and when you don’t have the right formulation, you’re missing a huge opportunity to see real results. Not only that but if we look at our Scalp Elixir alone, there are 11 ingredients in there. These 11 ingredients are measured according to a formulation such that your scalp benefits from so many vital compounds. 3. Not Massaging My Scalp

The Mistake: After applying a scalp oil, that would kind of be the end of it for me. I would put my hair in a braid and was done. Maybe I would do a quick 30 second massage, but not more than that.

The reality: Overlooking the importance of scalp massages seemed trivial, but it impacts blood circulation to the hair follicles, hindering nutrient delivery.

The Lesson: Regular scalp massages, whether done with fingertips or a massaging tool, stimulate blood flow. This simple practice enhances nutrient circulation, strengthens hair roots, and contributes to overall hair health.

4. Applying Too Much Oil

The Mistake: Believing that more oil meant more nourishment. I would apply so much oil to my scalp, and heavily coat the rest of my hair in oil too.

The reality: I ended up overloading my scalp. Attracting more dirt and struggling with flat, lifeless hair. It was also harder to wash out, and inevitably, I would have a lot of oil residue in my hair.

The Lesson: Use oils sparingly. A good quality oil formulation does not require a heavy application. This allows you to get the benefits of the oil without overloading your hair and causing buildup.

5. Not Washing My Scalp Thoroughly

The Mistake: I don’t know what gripe I had with shampoo but I convinced myself that shampoo, any kind of shampoo, wasn’t good for my scalp and hair. So, I would use it sparingly.

The reality: Incomplete washing left behind residue, which leads to product buildup, flakiness, and potential scalp issues, including more hair loss!

The Lesson: Pay attention to your washing technique. Section your hair to ensure even distribution of shampoo, and take the time to massage the scalp gently. Rinse thoroughly to remove all product residues. A clean scalp “breathes”, and a clean scalp produces healthy hair.
