How I overcame my hair loss

.

Hair loss can be a challenging journey, one that I intimately understand. Struggling with the frustration of thinning hair, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Through trial and error and I mean LOTS of trial and error, I discovered five key steps that played a pivotal role in transforming my hair. Here's how I tackled my hair loss head-on.

.

1. Optimized My Diet

The saying "you are what you eat" holds true, especially when it comes to hair health. I revamped my diet to include nutrient-dense foods that promote hair growth. Incorporating biotin-rich foods like eggs, nuts, and leafy greens, as well as omega-3 fatty acids found in fish and flaxseeds, made a noticeable difference in the strength and vitality of my hair. I also did blood work to identify whether I was lacking in any nutrients and used that to optimize my diet.

2. Scalp Massage every day

Introducing a regular scalp massage routine was a game-changer. The gentle pressure you apply during a scalp massage can facilitate good blood circulation. This activates oxygenation, detoxification, and metabolism in the follicle cells and dilates blood vessels surrounding them. A study by researchers in Japan analyzed the effect of scalp massages on hair and it was found that daily 4-minute scalp massages over a period of 24 weeks increased the thickness of hair.

3. Use a formulated product

I was all about DIY products. And especially for my scalp oil, I would mix my own concoction to apply a few times a week. When I decided to launch Pressed, I involved a cosmetic scientist to develop the formulation for our Scalp Elixir. And let me tell you. The Scalp Elixir did more for me in one month compared to the years of my DIY mixtures. I’m not saying ditch DIY, but I am saying that if you want results, true results, use a formulated product.

Our Scalp Elixir contains a carefully selected blend of 11 different oils to give you antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial compounds so you can grow healthier hair.

4. Kept My Scalp Clean

A clean scalp is the foundation for healthy hair. During my hair loss days I would avoid washing my hair, thinking that it would make me lose more hair. But the reality is that weak hair will release, whether you wash or not. It is better to let the weak hair shed so that you can focus on growing healthier hair. Suddenly I was less afraid to wash my hair because I knew there was a long-term goal in play. Keeping your scalp clean means you remove excess oil, environmental buildup from pollution and dust, and product buildup, to create an environment conducive to optimal hair growth.

Side note, I started using the Shampoo Brush to wash my hair and I simply cannot wash my hair without it. It has the ability to gently, yet thoroughly clean your scalp and just feels amazing

5. I was consistent

You have got to trust the process. This is so, so important. Correcting your hair loss is a journey, and a long-term one. In a world where we are always looking for a quick fix, I want you to take a breath. Accept that your hair loss will take a few months to fix. You may start seeing real results in 3 months, you may start seeing results in 6 months. This is how long it takes, and you have got to trust the process. I know how hard those months will be but trust the process and stick to it.

Conclusion

The journey to overcome hair loss taught me the importance of a holistic approach. While there's no one-size-fits-all solution, these five steps made a noticeable impact on the health and appearance of my hair, and I hope it helps you too. Here's to healthier, happier hair!
